The past year was one of deep contrasts—marked by both profound loss and meaningful moments of connection, growth, and gratitude.
We said goodbye to my father, Larry, my wife Jasmine’s mother, Juying, and, just weeks ago, her aunt Wanyun. Their absence is felt every day, and this year has reminded us how precious time together truly is.
Amid the challenges, we were grateful for opportunities to travel, gather, and create memories. We took a memorable road trip to Branson with our dear friends Rick and Melissa, enjoying time on the water, live shows, an amusement park visit, and a steamboat cruise on Table Rock Lake. The warmth and kindness of the people made the trip especially meaningful.
In July, we spent a wonderful week at my brother’s new home on Grand Mesa, where my sister and her family flew in to join us. The week was filled with four-wheeling in ATVs and side-by-sides, backyard games like cornhole, family laughter, and celebrating our twins’ birthday together. Shortly after, we spent a few days in Breckenridge for one of Jasmine’s students’ concerto concerts—a proud and inspiring moment.
Closer to home, we enjoyed Colorado’s beauty with hikes to places like Devils Lookout Tower, along with other trails, gatherings with friends, and meaningful family time. We also discovered a new shared interest in pickleball, which has quickly become a fun way to stay active and connect.
Cameron and Morgan continue to thrive. Both remain on the Honor Roll and are members of the National Junior Honor Society again this year. Cameron serves as Concertmaster for violin at her school, while Morgan is First Chair flute. They were also selected once again for Cherry Creek Schools’ Honor Orchestra and Honor Band, achievements we’re incredibly proud of.
Jasmine continues to have a strong and fulfilling year teaching piano, with many of her students earning recognition in both local and national competitions. Watching her students grow and succeed remains one of the great joys of our family.
My photography business has continued to grow, expanding further into videography, including the opportunity to work on a TEDx project this year. After cataract surgery earlier this year, seeing the world with renewed clarity has made creating art feel exciting all over again.
And finally, our beloved DoDo and DingDing are now four years old, bringing daily joy, energy, and plenty of smiles into our home.
This year has reminded us to hold our loved ones close, celebrate growth wherever we find it, and remain thankful for every shared moment.
